At UNION FENOSA we want to make society aware that rational energy use favours sustainable development and is environmentally beneficial for all of us.

We want to reduce CO₂ emissions and offset those we generate, helping to restore one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet: The Atlantic Forest.

 

CO₂ OFFSET PROJECT

This project promoted by Acciónatura, consists in the reforestation and sustainable management of around 50ha of deforested and degraded forest land to restore the area to similar characteristics similar to those of the virgin Atlantic Forest.

 

 

 

 

Apart from helping in the fight against climate change, our project will provide:

The restoration of a degraded and threatened area:
The Atlantic Forest is one of the most threatened ecosystems on the earth, with awareness of the major negative human impact on this area.

 

Flora and fauna conservation:
The Atlantic Forest is considered one of the greatest biodiversity treasures on the planet. It is characterised by its high number of animal and plant species which can only be found in this type of forest. A significant statistic is that of the 633 animals officially recognized as being threatened by extinction in Brazil, 383 are found in the Atlantic Forest.

Long-term sustainable development for local populations:
We will create reforestation and secondary forest management jobs thereby contributing to the area's economic and social development.
